Company Health Insurance Overview
- What is the waiting period?
- Waiting period is the 1st of the month following 60 days for medical, prescription, dental, vision and life. Long Term Disability is 1 year.
- Is Dental & Vision included?
- Yes Dental & Vision is included.
- What about family/dependents and grandchildren?
- Family/Dependents: we have a spousal carve out policy (which means if your spouse has insurance available through their work they cannot enroll in our plan. A packet is sent for a dependent audit within 30 days of enrollment in our plan (you’ll be required to send a copies of birth certificates, etc.). Grandchildren will only be considered if they are your legal dependent and you claim them legally on your income tax (you are required to provide court documents verifying custody).

Other Benefits
- 401K Plan
- We offer one of the best plans on the market with enrollment open during the first month of the quarter following your hire date. Employer matches dollar for dollar up to 5% of employee gross wages with deposits occurring each pay period. Withdrawals and suspension of contributions available within plan guidelines. Vesting cycle is 20% each year, 100% after 5 years of service.
- Vacation Details
- PGT strives to offer its employees competitive compensation packages that are commensurate with responsibilities, experience, and education levels.
- Paid Leave – .75 days per month accumulation. Paid leave accrued may be utilized after 6 months service. (Accruals begin the first full month following date of hire.)
- After 3 years service – 1 day per month (12 days per year).
- After 5 years service – 1.25 days per month (15 days per year).
- After 10 years service – 1.5 days per month (18 days per year).
- Liedtka drivers and Esmark drivers are provided a lump sum amount annually. Sudbury drivers get a vacation package similar to PGT.
- Each type of drivers vacation package may differ. Please contact your fleet manager, recruiter or human resource department with questions, inquiries or concerns.

For Contractors:
- What is UTBA?
- UTBA is Universal Trucking Benefit Association.
- Coverage
- UTBA offers medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance for an Independent Contractor. Coverages can be payroll deducted. UTBA will assist you in finding major medical care (this portion can’t be payroll deducted).
- Cost
- Cost depends on the amount of coverage , age, dependents, etc.
- Insurance requirements and various options
- As an IC you must have Occupation Accident Insurance (comparable to Independent Contractors workman’s comp). You can buy into PGT’s policy at $32.77 per week, or produce a yearly certificate showing you have coverage at 1mm limit. BTDH - bobtail/deadhead insurance, you can buy into PGT’s policy at $10.96 per week, or produce a yearly certificate showing you have coverage at 1mm limit. Cargo insurance is $9.23 per week with PGT’s 2.5 mm in coverage. You must buy into PGT’s Cargo insurance policy or place $30,000 in escrow.

Driver Referral Bonus
PGT offers a $5000 bonus for any CO, LP, or IC hired referral!
Upon hire, the referring driver will receive:
· $1,000 after your CO/LP/IC delivers their first load
· $1,000 monthly for the next four months
· Bonuses are paid once a month, on the first payroll of the month
NOTE:
· Referred driver must have at least 1 year of driving experience
· Bonus is not applicable on rehires
· The referred and referring drivers must both be active drivers at time of payout

Driver Requirements
- Must Meet PGT’s Driving Hiring Guidelines
Specialized Driver Requirements
- Three years verifiable OTR experience with two years of flat bed or specialized
- Above average MVR and CSA point total with safe driving habits
- Must match PGT’s requirements
- Minimum age of 23
Driver Detention: What to do if you’re detained
If you encounter detention at a shipper or consignee, please contact James Africa at 724-987-1660 or detention@pgttrucking.com. Detention charges typically start accumulating after 2 hours of free time upon on-time arrival for your appointment. All detention time must be logged as on-duty not driving time. If you are in a situation and unsure if detention is applicable, call James and he will guide you.
